Dispensing units which don’t comply –many in service at this time– should be retrofitted with minimum loss hose nozzles. The 1998 edition of NFPA 58 contained changes that will impact all existing and future refilling operations. As the 1998 NFPA 58 is adopted nationally by the various regulatory agencies that enforce codes, the issue of minimum-loss hose nozzles is sure to come to the forefront of regulatory attention.
Section 3-11.5: Low Emissions Transfers, says the discharge of LP-Gas, upon uncoupling, is limited to a maximum amount (4cc or 15cc) determined by the type of transfer and hose diameter. Most nozzles in service today do not meet the low emission requirement.

Gary Childress has been named Vice President of Administration and Finance. Gary has been with TEECO since 1990, starting as Controller and then moving up to Chief Financial Officer. As part of his added duties as Vice President, Gary will be responsible for developing TEECO’s financial strategy, budgeting and handling of administrative issues.
Robert (Bob) C. Bailey has been appointed Vice President of Operations. Bob began his career in the LP-Gas industry in 1975 at PACA, a well-known fabrication, construction and engineering company based in Sacramento, CA. He came to work at TEECO when TEECO acquired PACA in 1989. Bob will be concentrating on managing inventory and enhancing customer relationships.
Corken Vertical LPG Compressors
Compressors are extremely versatile. They can be used to transfer liquids between tanks, off-load/load-out liquids, recover residual vapor, and evacuate vapors for maintenance purposes. Many LPG piping systems do not provide ideal head pressure conditions for liquid pumps which causes excessive pump maintenance. Since compressors are only exposed to vapors, they are not affected by poor head pressure conditions. Many LPG pressurized tanks, such as railcars and buried tanks have top unloading connections. A compressor can be the perfect solution for transferring liquids to and from such tanks.
The “107" bulk plant compressor unit is complete with pressure gauges, steel
baseplate, mechanical liquid trap, four-way valve, strainer, interconnecting piping, adjustable driver-slide-base, v-belt drive and belt guard ready to receive an electric motor. This standard unit is typically used for liquid transfer and vapor recovery in applications including rail car and truck loading and unloading.
Options include ASME liquid traps with Class 1, Group D switches and total engineering packages.

NFPA 58 6-5.21 “Transportation of Containers” specifies that containers of 125 gallons or more water capacity shall contain no more than 5% of their water capacity in liquid form during transportation.

These conveniently packaged hose assemblies come complete with a regulator, a 5 or 10 foot thermoplastic LPG hose (1/4" MPT x 3/8" F. Fl.), and a choice of three end fittings: POL, Type 1 (QCC), or Type 2 (5LPN). The Sam Dick Electric Power XP Series explosion proof vaporizers are the answer to a variety of industrial and commercial LP-gas vaporization needs, from small feed drying operations to large automotive and manufacturing plants. The highly efficient Power Series provides low cost vaporization and eliminates the reliability problems so common to direct-fired vaporizers. Unlike direct fired vaporizers, electric Power Series vaporizers operate without a flame. Because it’s flameless, there is no worry about flame-outs or fires.
Only three connections are required; a liquid inlet, a vapor outlet and an electrical source connection. Each unit is shipped with all control wiring and piping in place.
Power Series vaporizers reduce maintenance requirements to a minimum. The low operating temperature of 180º to 220º F. eliminates LP-gas “cracking”, the cause of sludge and carbon build-up. Voltages from 110 to 480, one and three phase.

The original color-coded, maximum density, thread sealing tape developed exclusively for the gas industry. Gas Seal Tape is manufactured to the highest density of any teflon thread sealing tape on the market. Ordinary teflon tapes are stretched 600% or more, with a void volume greater than 80%. Gas can escape through these pores, creating potentially hazardous and costly leaks. Gas Seal Tape is unstretched.
Gas Seal Tape provides an impenetrable barrier to gasses. Holds higher pressures. Not subject to cold flow or collapse. Will not string or shred. Fewer wraps required. 33% thicker than ordinary thread sealing tapes. Yellow coded color for easy identification.
Gas Seal Tape is superior to liquid thread sealants. Unlike Pipe dope or anaerobic sealants, Gas Seal Tape is clean, non-toxic and has an unlimited shelf life. It is cheaper, too, costing only a few pennies per joint.

The TW-3 cylinder valve wrench kit speeds up installation and removal of QC cylinder valves from DOT containers. Works on all style 1 (QC) valves, including fixed handwheel OPD’s mandated by the DOT for all 5 lb. to 40 lb. cylinders. The TW-3 mates to the cylinder valve QC thread, rather than the POL thread, reducing the possibility of valve deformation when removing or installing. The wrench seats flush against the valve face, distributing torque across a wide area. The compact TW-3 fits under the handwheel valve and allows rotation inside the cylinder collar. The TW-3 also incorporates a bleed orifice safety feature that will indicate if any pressure remains in the cylinder before removing the valve. Made from tough, durable alloy and forged steel to resist corrosion and distortion.
