How to Order Gauges
ASME Tanks
1. Determine gauge head size: Junior (21/32“ bolt circle) or senior (2½" bolt circle).
2. Specify diameter of tank. If unknown, check tank nameplate.
3. Specify tank type.
4. Specify gauge mounting location: Top, end, side or angle mounting.
5. Specify "H" or "riser dimension. This is the dimension in inches from the gauge gasket surface to the outside surface of the tank.
6. If the gauge is to be end or side angle mounted:
a. Specify tank's head shape (hemispherical or semi-ellipsoidal).
b. Specify the degree of the angle from the horizontal centerline.
c. Specify the distance in inches from the horizontal centerline to the center of gauge adapter.
Vertical Cylinder Gauges
1. Determine gauge head size and material.
2. Specify tank diameter, or measure the circumference of the cylinder.
3. Specify the height of the cylinder (not including foot ring).
4. Specify the distance from the center of the gauge opening to the outside wall of the cylinder.
5. Specify the “H” dimension, the measurement from the highest point of the cylinder head to the top of the coupling or flange.
6. Specify tank capacity.
7. Furnish the name of the cylinder manufacturer
Ordering Replacement Gauges
Ordering duplicate or replacement gauges may be simplified by referring to the numbering code on the side of the gauge head. Example:
